In the US family study, which comprised 562 individuals (183 melanoma cases) from 53 melanoma-prone families, the C allele of rs2721173 in RECQL4 decreased the risk of melanoma by 17% (OR = 0.83, 95% CI: 0.36, 1.16; P-trend = 0.34), but did not reach statistical significance.
