For men, there was a 1.5 fold increase in prevalence of CAC in insulin resistant individuals compared with insulin sensitive individuals (p = 0.001); for women, there was a 2.6 fold increase in prevalence of CAC in insulin resistant individuals compared with insulin sensitive individuals, but this difference did not reach statistical significance (p = 0.07).
