Multiple myeloma accounts for only a small portion of all cancer cases; however, due to the price of the aforementioned medications, the mean total cost of managing patients is quite significant. 15 Therefore, in general, it is important to assess the cost-effectiveness ratio of therapies in order to ascertain better whether they represent a rational investment of scarce resources.
