The results of the OMEGA study - a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multicenter trial in which all participants had complete follow-up and the intervention group received twice-daily enteral supplementation of n-3 fatty acids, γ-linolenic acid (GLA), and antioxidants - did not show any improvement in the number of ventilator-free days or other clinical outcomes in patients with ALI, and in fact showed a trend towards increased mortality [ 1 ].
