A wide study of the distribution and function of homopeptide-containing proteins could also demonstrate a clear trend in humans, D. melanogater , and C. elegans , with the majority of homopeptide-containing proteins performing roles in transcription/translation and signaling processes and to a less extend in transport and adhesion processes (Faux et al., 2005 ).
