An independent analysis of randomized studies comparing IF using volar locking plates with EF showed that at 3 and 6 months, the volar plate group had better DASH scores, but the difference diminished over time; at 12 months, the scores were not statistically significantly different and showed a trend in favor of EF ( Table 3 ).
