A pooled risk reduction of NRT for tobacco cessation did not reach statistical significance in a recent meta-analysis of six RCTs comprising 1,745 pregnant smokers (RR 1.33, 95% CI: 0.93–1.91) most likely due to low adherence rates to NRT (7.2 to 29%) [ 158 ].
