Logistic regression showed a trend for increased risk of death from any cause with increasing osteopontin level but this was not statistically significant [adjusted OR was 1.24 (95% CI, 0.52–2.96) for the middle vs. lowest tertile, and 1.39 (95% CI, 0.56–3.42) for the highest vs. lowest tertile, adjusted for age, gender, BMI, site of primary, season-adjusted vitamin D level and stage at sampling ( Table II )].
