However, Tβ4 treatment was able to limit this injury: as measured by cross-sectional area of four sections per heart, mean infarct volume was significantly reduced by 43% in the long term dosing group (from 9.1 ± 0.8 to 5.2 ± 0.8%; P < 0.01) and by 29% in the short term dosing group, although this did not reach statistical significance (Figure 1 ).
