Initially, some extracellular placental specific microRNAs (miR-516-5p, miR-520*, miR-518b, and miR-526a) trended just to a higher level in the small cohort of patients with placental insufficiency related complications (16 preeclampsia, 5 preeclampsia with IUGR and 11 IUGR), however, did not reach statistical significance when compared to gestational-age-matched controls.
