A study of 2,043 postmenopausal women in the United States found that BMD was 3.8 percent higher in women who had more than 29 drinking occasions per month than those who abstained, although this finding only was marginally significant (because of small numbers of daily drinkers) ( Wosje and Kalkwarf 2007 ).
