Thus, many visual temporal coding tasks also draw on quite significant cognitive abilities, such as sequencing, judgment and memory, and although such mechanisms are also required in reading, it makes it difficult to use tasks such as these to explicitly isolate the neural components of visual coding in the temporal sampling process.
