A clear trend of lower CSF t-α-syn levels in PD and other synucleinopathies has been consistently reported (Tokuda et al., 2006 ; Noguchi-Shinohara et al., 2009 ; Spies et al., 2009 ; Hong et al., 2010 ; Mollenhauer et al., 2011 ; Parnetti et al., 2011 ; Aerts et al., 2012 ; Tateno et al., 2012 ), although with a large overlap between the PD and control groups (Noguchi-Shinohara et al., 2009 ; Spies et al., 2011 ).
