20 We conducted these studies against a backdrop of an increasing trend toward the use of accelerated or enhanced recovery pathways for patients undergoing colorectal surgical procedures. 24–27 The reductions in opioid consumption and LOS observed in these studies are encouraging in light of this trend, and suggest that liposome bupivacaine-based multimodal analgesic regimens may play a role in supporting continued efforts to improve and shorten the recovery experience for patients undergoing colorectal surgery.
