In patients with type 1 diabetes, LS-BMD and FN-BMD were significantly lower in those with fractures compared with those without fractures (LS-BMD p <0.02 and FN-BMD p < 0.03) while in patients with type 2 diabetes there was a similar trend which did not reach statistical significance (LS-BMD p < 0.2 and FN-BMD p < 0.2).
