To improve our estimate of the population frequency of what are rare events, we examined nominally significant loci in an extended control sample ( n = 6944) including UK controls from WTCCC2 [2533 controls from the UK National Blood Service (NBS) and 2663 from the UK 1958 Birth Cohort (58BC)] ( 28 ).
