DISCUSSION The main findings of this study are that: 1) successful RFCA in patients with paroxysmal AF decreased LAVmax and function in the short-term and showed a trend of recovery of LA function in the long term, whereas the patients with recurrence of AF had worse LA function; 2) patients with recurrent AF had significantly larger LA volumes than patients without recurrent AF; and 3) the LAVmax RFCA was an independent predictor of AF recurrence after ablation.
