Fever at presentation was significantly predictive of a shorter duration of illness prior to presentation [average 6.09 months shorter (95 % CI −9.89, −2.29) p = 0.002], as was nausea or vomiting at presentation [average 5.01 months shorter (95 % CI −9.55, −0.46) p = 0.031], while headache showed a negative trend [average 6.92 months shorter (95 % CI −14.95, 1.12) p = 0.092].
