NADPH-d activity (expressed as arbitrary units of optical density) was decreased in the collecting ducts of the diabetic rats present in the outer stripe of the outer medulla and in the thick ascending limb of Henle’s loop present in the inner stripe of the outer medulla, whereas in the collecting ducts of the inner stripe of the outer medulla NADPH-d activity showed a trend (p<0.1) to decrease.
