The prevalence of hyperuricemia increased in an almost linear manner from controls (3.9%) to euglycemic hypertension (7.6%) and prediabetic status (14.0%). Diabetic patients exhibited a slightly lower prevalence than prediabetic patients (11.4%) but the difference did not reach statistical significance.
