There were no associations between COPD status and cancer mortality; however, in the supplementary analysis with “lung cancer mortality” as a single outcome according to the different spirometric criteria of COPD, we were able to detect an increase in all HR although the results did not reach statistical significance due to the small sample size (only 10 deaths by lung cancer out of 46 cancer deaths).
