This profile differed in the Northeast, where breast cancer mortality rates exceeded those of cervical cancer at the end of the period, with a marked increase in women living in the interior. Cervical cancer mortality coefficients in the South and Southeast were lower than those of breast cancer and there was a clear trend of decline in the female population as a whole.
