24 Roed et al performed a systematic review of six published studies that were judged not to be heavily biased: one study suggested that HCV infection might be a protective factor against coronary artery disease, whereas the remaining five studies showed a trend toward the association of HCV with coronary artery disease. 26 The authors advocated that clinicians should be aware of the possible association between HCV and coronary artery disease, and efforts should be made to reduce cardiovascular risk factors among HCV-infected patients.
