30 A recent cross-sectional epidemiologic survey showed a trend toward earlier sexual debut and riskier sexual behaviours in younger age groups of Chinese women, with the median age of sexual debut being 17 years. 31 These findings suggest that early implementation of HPV vaccination in young adolescent girls before completion of their 9-year compulsory education, will better contribute to the prevention of HPV infection and cervical cancer in China.
