A hospital admission with miscarriage was more frequent among women with valve prostheses than among those without (154 versus 93 per 1000 pregnancies, RR=1.65, 95% CI 1.12 to 2.45), and among those with mechanical valves compared with those with bioprosthetic valves, although this latter difference did not reach statistical significance (300 versus 140 per 1000, RR=2.20, 95% CI 0.81 to 5.98).
