Baseline ECOG PS 0 was associated with longer OS in Japanese patients with mRCC, in agreement with the results of the post-hoc analyses from the AXIS trial.( 14 ) Whereas the AXIS trial analyses additionally identified baseline MSKCC risk group as a prognostic factor for survival, the difference in OS between the favorable and poor risk group did not reach statistical significance in our study, which may be explained, at least in part, by the much smaller number of patients in this study than in the AXIS trial (favorable vs poor: 10 vs 4 patients in this study; 201 vs 238 patients in the AXIS trial).
