Whilst the inflammatory signature did not reach statistical significance in the ‘No Sepsis’ group, the contrasting relative enrichment of the Endotoxin Tolerance and inflammatory signatures in the 2 groups may indicate a fundamental difference in the balance of endotoxin tolerance and inflammation unique to sepsis patients ( Fig. 3 a).
