As detailed in the Methods section, some preselection of genes is done, but the selection does not require even nominally significant association with a survival endpoint, as is often required in survival studies with high-dimensional covariates. 4 , 7 , 34 This allows for the identification of many important genes, some previously known to be involved in cancers other than ovarian, which would not otherwise have been considered.
