In the absence of a significant trend, individual group differences between Si treatments and diluent control were then assessed by independent (unpaired) samples two-tailed t test and, because there was comparison for two groups (moderate and high Si dosing), a Bonferroni correction was applied to the p value (i.e. p / n ), and significance was taken as p ≤ 0.025.
