The sentences

The role of fruit intake in HCC incidence as investigated in epidemiological studies is inconclusive: an inverse association of fruit intake with HCC risk has been reported mainly from case–control studies in northern Italy, but these associations have either considered the combination of fruit and vegetable intake ( Braga et al , 1997 ) or did not reach statistical significance ( Talamini et al , 2006 ).
