The β1 receptor was also more highly expressed in acromegalic adipose tissue though it did not reach statistical significance (1.5 fold, q = 0.20; Fig 4B ) suggesting a potential sensitization of these patients to adrenergic stimuli may underlie the enhanced ex vivo lipolysis.
