Placing diabetic rats on a normal diet for 12 weeks, after 12 weeks of the high fat diet and 4 weeks of hyperglycemia, had a modest effect on glucose clearance ( Figure 1(b) , AUC: 144% of control, P < 0.05 compared to control rats) but the difference between diabetic rats and diabetic rats placed on the normal diet did not reach statistical significance.
