Patients more recently diagnosed with schizophrenia showed a trend toward lower relapse (10.5% versus 21.8%; p = 0.053), and significantly better improvement in psychotic symptoms as assessed by Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale [PANSS; mean ± standard deviation (SD): PANSS total score change −10.2 ± 2.0 versus −3.8 ± 0.9; p = 0.004] and Clinical Global Impressions, Severity Scale (CGI-S; mean ± SD: CGI-S score −0.5 ± 0.1 versus −0.2 ± 0.1; p = 0.002).
