A significant trend was observed with sTNF-RI such that those in the highest tertile were at more than twice increased odds of having short telomeres as compared to those in the lowest tertile (OR adjusted for age, gender, smoking and obesity =2.19, 95 % CI 1.00–4.85, p-trend = 0.02).Although the unadjusted odds for short LTL were significant for sTNF-RII, this association disappeared after adjustment for confounders, including age, gender, smoking, and obesity.
