When MC1R SNP variables were included in the model, there was a near-significant association between the T314T variant and decreased itch score ( P = 0.029), with each additional copy of T314T being associated with 1.18 point lower mean itch score (95% CI: 0.12-2.23) in the overall study population; however, this association did not reach significance after accounting for multiple testing (defined as P <0.01), nor was it significant in the stratified analysis limited to Whites only ( Table 5 ).
