Indeed, the calculated energy difference between the cis and trans geometries in the coordination intermediates of 2–5 , Δ E of 4th column in Table 2 , follows a clear trend with the bulkiness of the N-substituents, F < Me < CF 3 < t -Bu, Δ E = −8.0 < −5.2 < −3.4 < −2.1 kcal/mol, respectively.
