The relation of illiteracy and low education level with tobacco consumption has also been reported in several other surveys and reports from different regions.[ 7 , 13 , 14 , 17 , 18 , 19 , 20 , 21 , 22 ] In the present survey though only one category of low per capita family income was significantly associated with tobacco consumption, a clear trend of lower income related to higher tobacco consumption was observed.
