Although the results did not reach statistical significance (Fisher’s exact test, p = 0.2), the opportunistic survival of ECC15 from TrpA1 ins guts at the HOCl concentration that prevented the growth of ECC15 from wcs guts suggests that the timely clearance of the pathogenic bacteria might be critical to eliminate the opportunity to gain the ability to survive the Duox defense system in the gut.
