In multivariable analyses, new or worsening meniscal extrusions over 2.4 years predicted change in JSW over 5 years at the medial tibial (R 2 3.1 %, p = 0.031) and medial femur (R 2 3.2 %, p = 0.024) sites, and was strongest in participants with radiographic OA (OARSI grade ≥1) (R 2 = 6.2 %, p = 0.017), but did not reach statistical significance in the whole population at both sites (R 2 2.4 %, p = 0.053), after adjustment for change in meniscal tears and cartilage defects.
