Additionally, the same genetic variants were measured in other populations and were found to have an additive effect on incurring a higher risk of hypertension in a study targeting Indian population, 50 and of marginal significance in a Chinese population. 51 Statistically significant associations of genetic variants incurring a higher risk of hypertension in the Saudi populations were detected near genes influencing blood pressure level through several mechanisms.
