The nevi around the primary melanoma showed a trend for less immunoreactivity to p-ERK than the primary melanoma within the same nevus although it was not significant (p = 0.0856). p-ERK immunoreactivity in melanoma metastasis was significantly stronger than in melanocytic nevi (p < 0.0001), CMN (p = 0.0052), primary melanoma (p = 0.0388) and the associated melanocytic nevus (p = 0.0017) (fig. 1g ).
