We found that in both groups, there was a strong trend towards altered probability of progression dependent upon genotype at rs7422195 ( Fig 8 ) but that, consistent with the association data, the opposite allele was associated with altered progression, such that in the DR15 negative group, patients homozygous for the risk-associated (A) allele have an increased probability of progression, although the effect does not reach statistical significance ( Fig 8A , p = 0.07, OR = 1.9, 95% CI 0.948 to 3.87).
