However, there was a clear trend towards lower effect sizes in this population-based study of Chinese than in the predominantly case–control samples of European descent included in GWAS discovery studies, with a mean proportional reduction in log e OR of 19% (95% CI 6, 32; p = 4.8 × 10 −3 ).
