Finally, our study, by focusing on health outcomes exclusively, did not look at the impact of the crisis on health systems, such as shortages in health workforce and medical supplies, where several studies have shown a negative trend during the financial crisis. 65 66 A review of this literature was beyond the scope of this study and it is left for future research.
