These results, although taken with due care giving the simplicity of the amine used (NH 3 ) and the relatively small Δ G values obtained, indicate a clear trend and help explain why attempts to obtain the corresponding Co hydride complex from 4a by removal of BH 3 as an amine adduct were unsuccessful.
