Correlations between RF-predicted and real patient survival on held-out samples were in the range of 0.12 to 0.35 for six TCGA cohorts (Additional file 1 : Figure S9) with corresponding modest significance ( p <0.1) for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and skin cutaneous melanoma (SKCM), and stronger significance ( p <0.013) for head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSC), glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), and ovarian serous cystadenocarcinoma (OV).
