A similar trend was seen for the hepatic bicarbonate–pyruvate ratio to be elevated in the slice‐selective data acquisition, although, with the reduced SNR and increased signal variability (see online data supplement ) in the bicarbonate data, this study was underpowered to detect such a change and the difference failed to reach statistical significance.
