Multiple parameters could be analysed at the same time with automated counting, and this highlighted possible differences between the spastin and IST1 phenotypes that were not obvious from manual counting of the number of tubules per cell; for example the mean length of the longest tubule metric showed a trend towards being greater in cells depleted of IST1.
