However, a meta-analysis of 4 recent randomized trials showed a trend toward better outcome (mRS 0-2 at 90 days; 38% vs. 19%) and a significant reduction in mortality (20% vs. 41%, adjusted OR 3.7; P =0.01) in patients ≥80 years who received Solitaire stent thrombectomy when compared to those received medical treatment alone [ 15 ].
