We found relationships between mean weighted network closeness and the amount of agriculture and forest: deer populations in areas with high amounts of agriculture and low amounts of forest tended to be more socially connected (R 2 = 0.40 and R 2 = 0.39, respectively; Fig 2 , Table 5 ), although the small number of networks we analyzed meant that these results did not reach statistical significance.
